Place: Vicksburg Time: North try to take action in 1862 May but fail, Grant take action in 1863 spring and siege begin at May 22, 1863 and South surrender at July 4, 1863 Procedure: 1. North General David try to fight on sea in May 1862 but failed because south strong gunfire 2. Grant wants to build a canal to bypass Vicksburg fort but fail 3. General Ambrose Burnside become successor and he heads to south territory to find decisive victory 3. Ambrose meets Lee at Fredericksburg 4. Place: Gettysburg Time: Start from July 1 to July 2, 1863 Procedure: 1. Lee leaves Virginia and enter north territory, Pennsylvania. 2. North General George Meade engage Confederates force 3. The battle of Gettysburg begin with south advantage over north 4. North build defense at night 5. South lose the opportunity because the defense building 6. Lee retreat back to Virginia Result: North win Effect: 1. Over 50000 people died or wounded in this war and Lee lose one third of its force 2. South never fight again on Union soil 3. Turning point of east 7. Place: Petersburg Time: Start from June 15, 1864 and end until April 9 Procedure: 1. North general Grant start by using siege tactics for all summer, fall, winter of 1864 and spring of 1865 2. South try to break the siege but failed 3. Lee retreated from Petersburg on April 2 4. Lee and solider is trapped at town of Appomattox Court house, Virginia 5. Lee surrender to Grant formally on April, 9 Result: North win Effect: 1. south main General Lee is captured 2.
