Vicksburg is the final major military action during the US Civil War. After crossing the Mississippi river south of Vicksburg at bruinburg and driving northeast. Vicksburg is a city in and county seat of Warren Country, Mississippi, and United States.
Why is important?
It is the last major battle during the Civil war. For the north, they got Lt. Gen Pemberton’s army of Mississippi to retreat to Vicksburg and surrender with the city. After the war, both side are getting tired of the civil war. Vicksburg was one the few remaining cities under Confederate control. General Grant led the victory at Vicksburg for the North.
